Saxophonist Mariano García and pianist Aniana Jaime Latre, performers and professors at the Music Conservatoire of Aragón in Zaragoza, formed in 2010 AniMa DUO with the aim of deepen, broaden and seek to surpass the boundaries imposed by chronology to chamber music repertoire for saxophone and piano. Compromise with quality and absence of prejudice when playing transcriptions or latest contemporary pieces are their proposal´s identity.

MARIANO GARCÍA, one of the most demanded and outstanding saxophone teachers, gives numerous courses and master classes in Spain and various American Universities.

He has toured China (Yantai festival), is frequently asked to sit on juries at international competitions and regularly takes part in major festivals in Andorra, Portugal, Panticosa, Austria, Italy and also Gap (France).

 

ANIANA JAIME LATRE has received comprehensive training in Sariñena, Madrid and Holland from pianists Rosa Mª Kucharski, Carmen Rubio, Anselmo de la Campa and Aquiles Delle-Vigne. She also attends many national and international courses where among others receives advice from Josep Mª Colom, Claudio Martinez-Mehner, and the teachers Emilio Molina y Rafael Eguílaz.

She has performed recitals as a soloist, as a member of various chamber music formations and collaborates with the Chamber Orchestra of the Auditorium of Zaragoza «Grupo Enigma».

In 2014 AniMa DUO recorded their first album Sculptures under the IBS Classical label, welcome by public and commended by critics. It is an eclectic disc featuring pieces originally written for other instruments, including works by Bach, Schumann, Hindemith, and Debussy.  Also included is the world premiere recording of Jean Françaix´ Theme and Variations (with the collaboration of the author’s son Jacques) and Seven Popular Spanish Songs by Manuel Falla, coinciding with the centenary of the piece.

In 2016 AniMa DUO released their second album Ritmo en el espacio which includes first recordings of recent works by Spanish composers: Óscar Escudero, Benet Casablancas, José Mª Sánchez Verdú, Agustín Charles, Jesús Rueda and Pablo Labián.

The DUO has performed at Ribagorza Clásicos en la Frontera Festival and the 2015 Vienna Sax Fest, in addition to venues including the Andorra Congress Palace, Eduardo del Pueyo Auditorium of Zaragoza, the International Festival of Panticosa,  the Manuel de Falla Auditorium of Granada, the Mozart Hall Auditorium at Zaragoza, Shenandoah University in Winchester, Greensboro North Carolina, Georgia in Augusta and Columbia South Carolina in USA, Teatro de la Estación at Zaragoza, II Contemporary Music Festival at La Rioja and Saxophone European University at Gap (France).
